Le restaurant Roman Room offre un vaste choix de plats modernes et une excellente carte des vins. The room was ok, could do with an update and lick of paint as it was beginning to fall apart. Ordered room service, which was quick and tasty - impressed with their vegan options. Overall, not a bad experience! Requested to have a twin room but got a double bed instead and was told that the hotel is fully booked. The bedroom is out dated. Not very clean rooms. Lots of dust. However the location is convenient for people who want to go to brain tree outlets.
On a holiday with GB Tours. Things were a little different due to the pandemic. The staff were masked, but their lovely smiling eyes said it all. What a great bunch of people they were, kind, helpful and efficient. Full credit to them all. Rooms were clean and beds were comfy. The view from our window was lovely. Lots of rabbits and even a muntjac deer. Rooms were serviced on request. The evening meals were well presented and delicious. Portions were generous too. A lovely few days away from it all.
Would love to return. By far the best dog friendly hotel Iv stayed at. My little doggy was provided with a bed, bowls and a couple of toys. He was so happy with his ball. All items appeared brand new. Hotel was clean and presentable with very friendly staff. Would recommend this hotel to others and will stay again. We booked a 2 night break but only stayed for one.
There were the wildest children bouncing on sofas and playing football in the bar. After about 90 mins of this - where bar staff were ignoring it - I went to front desk and someone came in and spoke to parents BUT the wildest bunch had just left. The father had his shoes off and feet up on the chair in front of him whilst ignoring the. I refused to stay for a second night and was told that I had no grounds for a refund.
Social distancing?? Transmission of virus? Control of unwanted behaviour? I was also told that they could see into the bar area from the front desk. Great and friendly staff but it's not just that. The beds are so comfortable and usually i struggle with pillows to the extent I bring my own. However I packed so quickly I forget them. I didn't need to worry as the pillows were perfect. The food is really good quality. One dinner - the sirloin Yorkshire wrap will be one of my best and most memorable.
Unique and tasty. I also think how places deal with issues speaks volumes and a minor issue was sorted both swiftly and with several options. Love this place and the staff. Arrived on Saturday and was suprised its nothing like the pictures Got to our room 2 adults 1 toddler we were told to bring our own travel cot. First thing we saw on bed was spots of blood. We were told that bedding and towels will not be changed inbetween nights due to covid. These to be used for room and pool with us having to ask for new towels after pool use.
Noisy room as next to main road Breakfast arrived and waited to be seated had to wait for Colchester birthday hot british women to be cleaned Set menu of English breakfast or veg option or croissant with fruit salad. No option for baby we asked and they said they can't do scrambled egg instead of fried.
Luckily i brought cereal for our daughter. We waited an hour to be served breakfast. Fruit salad is kiwi and melon with no spoon to eat it. Just knife and fork. We did complain to reception guy and he said sorry its covid 19 the response and they didn't expect to be bbe busy. Managed to use the "heated" pool but as comments it's split inb2 lanes max 12 people 6 each side.
So cold aswel. We didn't eat at the hotel we went into Colchester and ate at restaurants. We didn't bother with breakfast on check out day couldn't be bothered with wait or lack of choice. They don't stick to 2 metre distance staff wear masks and customers can if they choose to. All in all won't be coming back. Unfortunately the breakfast wasn't much choice. But acceptable. The swimming pool.
If you book the hotel just because the swimming pool!!!
Like I did don't waste your time and money. To get access to the swimming pool you have to go out the hotel and get to a different building no rain cover or whatsoever.
No good for. And far to busy I was in the hotel for 2 nights we tray several times and we didn't get a chance to be there ones. Because was always busy. Really disappointed. Was something we promised to our daughter and unfortunately we couldn't do.
And much smaller then expected. Website photo show something really different lot bigger then reality. The swimming pool was divided for 2 One side kids other side adults swimming. Was allowed just 6 each time. Because Covid The other thing was the key card was always with issues had to go the reception to get sorted. Cleaning acceptable. But should be better. The should move furniture to clean behind I drop my phone and I found lots dust behind chests draw. Toilet seat bit dirty Colchester birthday hot british women had to clean myself before I use.
As I usually do. If you planning to rest! Stuff really friendly always ready to help. Few minutes to the Zoo. The staff were very helpful and accommodating. Rooms super clean and well equipped. Restaurant room service was very easy and fantastic food! Also breakfast room service was great! The restaurant was very accommodating- vegan, gluten free, baby friendly options or adaptations to meals It felt very safe in terms of Covid19, with masks, screens, non contact check out and social distancing.
The staff were lovely, however we waited an hour for our starter which was nachos Breakfast delivered to your room at 7am every day, even weekends. Asked 3 times to get bin emptied. Pool not open, but was told it would be, when I booked. Generally ok. Rooms look tired. I appreciate these are difficult times and things are different at the moment with covid Best Western "past it".
What a very tired place.
See photos. No breakfast. But a piece of cold toast, jam, NO butter, cup of coffee out of a vending machine, no sugar. Knock at your door at 7. Bed frame looked as if it had been retrieved from the local dump and the so did the drawer's.
Very close to Colchester this hotel is perfectly situated for business Clean and comfortable and great value and real business venue Plenty of parking and decent food at fair prices always worth a visit if you need to be in Colchester Always much more interesting than a premier Inn or Travelodge it's always worth looking further afield? For a present for my husband's birthday I got a wowcher voucher for afternoon tea for two with leisure club access and prosecco the entrance to the hotel was lovely though the leisure area was very run down the sauna room was nice small but was adequate the steam room wasn't too good had an unpleasant smell and had green liquid on the floor the best thing about the afternoon was the afternoon tea we had a lovely selection of sandwiches and cakes all fresh and lovely the prosecco was a nice touch we we were assisted by a young lady called Amy she was very professional pleasant and knowledgeable and she standed out from the rest another lady middle-aged was also very helpful and attentive who assisted us both were lovely we would definitely go back to have a afternoon tea but not use the other facilities.
This was a great stay hotel, looks lovely on arrival made me feel like I was abroad on holiday when I was stood outside good feelings, the food was good in the eveningthe breakfast was ok Colchester birthday hot british women a lot of choice so there is something for you and you can eat as much as you like. Just the meat the sausage and e bacon wasn't for meeverything else was good. The room was nice and the bed was so comfyyou could open he windows fully and the heating worked very well.
It has a gym and a swimming pool, steam room and sauna and I found these very usefulI love a hotel with a swimming pool. We enjoyed our stay very muchno complaints at all the bar was very nice and the lady behind the bar would do anything for youany one complained about this place for the price is clearly too good for any hotel and even maybe stuck up lol Stayed here for one night and it was a nightmare start to finish, except for the food.
We was checked in by a rather intense young man called lorenzo who went through the usual protocol which was no problem after given the card key we made two attempts to access the room this was very frustrating having to make trips back to reception to complain, in the end lorenzo said the "card programming was back to front". The changing area reminds me of my old swimming baths back in the 80s,there is dirt and grime everywhere and needs to be inspected by health and safety.
In the pool area you are greeted by more dirty Colchester birthday hot british women with grouting that has turned black due to lack of cleaning. The steam room has rust up the walls where something metal has been situated, it stunk of urine.Colchester birthday hot british women
